Public Affairs Administration

In 2000, thebachelorprogram of Public Affairs Administration was established and enrolled undergraduates. In July 2006, the Department of Public Affairs Administration was formally establishedsimultaneously withthe establishment of the School of Government. It was honored as one of the National First-Class Undergraduate Majors.

The Department of Public Affairs Administration currently has 4 professors, 6 associate professors and 2 lecturers, among whom 7 hold important positions in national professional associations (research institutions). So far, the faculty of the department has presided over or participatedmore than 20 national and provincial vertical projects, more than 100 horizontal projects, published more than 30 monographs and textbooks, and published more than 400 academic papers. Many achievements have been awarded provincial and ministerial scientific research awards, andthe teaching achievements have been awarded Beijing Quality Course and the first prize of University Teaching Achievement Award and etc.

Relying on the traditional superior disciplines of Central University of Finance and Economics, the Department of Public Affairs Administrationfocuses on the frontier disciplines, roots in China's practice,carries on the theoretical researches to meet the needs of social public services, highlights the characteristic direction, and forms a comprehensive training system. Public Affairs Administration covers the fields of education, health, science and technology, social security and so on. The students are prepared to engage in professional and challenging jobs such as industry policy research, comprehensive management, development trend analysis and human resource management in the fields of economic management, financial investment and other related industries.

The Department of Public Affairs Administration follows theeducational concept of "public spirit, strategic thinking and management ability", and aims to cultivate high starting point, high quality and high-level management personnel of public organizations. In aspect of undergraduate education, the department takes "public organization and human resourcemanagement" as its characteristic direction, integrates the theories and methods of economics and management into the discipline system of public organization, and helps students to cultivate thecapability and quality to adapt to the professional requirements of various public sector work. In the aspect of postgraduate training, it focuses on the fields of public sector performance management, educational economy and management, human resource management of public sector, government procurement policy and management, social insurance policy and management, public health policy and management, science and technology innovation policy and management and so on. It concentrates on the characteristic directions, strengthens the research of theoretical frontier and practical problems, and focuses on improving the students' scientific research ability and professional ability.

Graduates of this major meet the needs of national economic and social development, and are widely distributed in the Party and government organizations, Government-affiliated institutions, State-owned and central-owned enterprises, financial institutions, consulting companies and other industries. In recent years, more than 50% of graduates have continued their studies atwell-knownuniversities at home and abroad, such asCarnegie Mellon University, New York University, Tsinghua University, Renmin University of China andetc.
