School of Government of Central University of Finance and Economics (CUFE) was established in July 2006.It is the third“School of Government” in Chinafollowing the School of Government of Peking University and the Zhou Enlai School of Government of Nankai University. The founder dean of the school is Professor ZHAO Jinghua and the current dean is Professor JIANG Ling.

The school aims to cultivate innovative public management talents with social responsibility and leadership based on Chinese administration and management practices, contributing to national development and human progress.

The school consists of four departments: Public Administration, Public Affairs Administration, Urban Governance and International Politics. There are 8 research institutes, including the Center for Strategic Studies and Evaluation of the Chinese Government, the Research Center for Public Administration, the Center for Chinese Urban Strategic Studies, and the Institute of Educational Economy and Management. The whole faculty has reached 57, among which there are 14 professors, 22 associate professors and 11 lecturers. Faculty members have received many high-level honors, such as Members of the Teaching Steering Committee of Public Administration Majors of Higher Education Institutions of the Ministry of Education, the Special Allowance of the State Council, Beijing Famous Young Teachers, Beijing Famous Teachers and Teaching Teams of Curriculum Ideological and Political Teaching, Leading Lecturers of Outstanding Professional Courses (public courses) of Beijing Higher Education Institutions, Beijing Young Talents, Longma scholars of Central University of Finance and Economics, etc.

The school has formed a multi-level and multi-channel educational system, mainly based on full-time undergraduate education, academic master's education, Ph.D.'s education and MPA's education, and supplemented by international cooperations, such as a joint training program with Arizona State University and Universita della Svizzera Italiana (USI). In the fourth round of discipline evaluation, the discipline of Public Administration was rated B, ranking 20%-30% in the country. In the first national professional degree evaluation, the Master of Public Administration (MPA) was awarded B+, ranking 15%-25% in the country.

The school comprehensively matches resources such as experts, alumni, enterprises and institutions to build a "progressive support system" to assist students in their“whole process”development.Wei Gong Lecture Hall,Wei GongAcademy andWei Gong Journal enable students to "Pursue Truth" in professional learning and research; Practicalandexperimental classes, social volunteer services, and undergraduate tutoring systems enable students to "Be Pragmatic" in personalized development; The National University "Model Mayor" Competition, the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei Model UN General Assembly, and the Public Policy Research Learning and Practice Base allow students to "Devise Sound Strategies" in the practical situation; Foreign exchange programs andGlobal Competences Development Program allow students to "Embrace the World" in the collision of international perspectives and ideas. As of December 2022, the school has had 1967 undergraduate students, 476 academic graduate students, 60 Ph.D. students/candidates, and 1318 MPA graduates. A great number of high-quality talents have joined government departments, enterprises and public institutions.

Our researches mainly focus on the themes of local governance, government performances, regional and urban governance, public policy, and international politics. Faculty members have published large amounts of papers in SSCI and SCI journals, such asGovernanceCities,Environmental Science & Technology,Journal of Cleaner Production,Land Use Policy,Ageing & Society, Energy Policy,Regulation & Governance,Habitat International,Landscape and Urban Planning,Local Government Studies. They have published and edited more than 200 monographs, such asCollaborative Governance of Local Governments in China by Routledge Press. The faculty has undertaken over 40 high-level projects, including the World Bank TCC6 project and etc. Meanwhile, some faculty members also participated in the “Wanli Forum - Research on the Economic and Social Development of Northeast Brazil”, which has great international influence.
